Here is a Movie Theatre Truck That Delivers to Your Doorstep

The pure potential of an actual, literal, motion picture.

Sure, there seems to have been a bit of an insurgence of movie streaming platforms lately. But sometimes, in that moment between The Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix in your HP marathon, when your screen goes all dark and you accidentally catch sight of your many-chinned reflection, you realise that Netflix does not accurately replicate the cinema-going experience. What does accurately replicate the cinema-going experience, however, is this very important old mini bus that has been transformed into a portable movie theatre.

Thankfully, some top bloke in Hungary realised that the amount of front door step movie theatre delivery services was lacking, and did something about it. He made this cinema truck. The reason for Gabor Reisz’ innovation? He had written and directed a movie. Unfortunate for him, however, was that he was not a known director, nor writer, nor achiever of any other creative feats.

On top of this, the stars of the film were actors Aron Ferenczick, Miklos Horvath and Balint Gyorivanyi. Don’t feel like you should recognise these names; you won’t. No one did. Because they’re not famous actors. So why would one go to the cinema to see Reizs’ For Some Inexplicable Reason? They wouldn’t. Which is why he decided to take the cinema to them.

He did this by taking an old micro bus and installing a projector, as well as throwing in a few theatrical additions like a red carpet and some velvet ropes. Reisz created a cinema delivery. Interested viewers booked the film, and the bijou six seater truck turned up on their doorstep, with the film already locked and loaded. It was the ultimate motion picture.

Pizza is cool and everything, and that feeling of elation when that blue and red clad Dominos guy rings the doorbell is unprecedented. But why is pizza the only socially acceptable home delivery service? And when are we going to take a leaf out of Hungary’s book and start funding delivery cinemas? These are the real questions.
