Since its inception in 1996, independent label Stones Throw Records has played a part in releases for the likes of Snoop Dogg, Aloe Blacc, J Dilla, Dam-Funk, Madlib, Mayer Hawthorne and plenty more influential acts. The label was founded by Los Angeles disc jokey and producer Peanut Butter Wolf as a means of releasing his debut album with the late MC Charles Hicks (Charizma).

Stones Throw celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and will mark the occasion by popping down under for a ridiculously affordable blowout. On Saturday 10 September, music initiative Red Bull Sound Select will present the New Zealand Stones Throw Records 20th Anniversary Show at K'Rd's The Studio.

The event will feature none other than Stones Throw head honcho Peanut Butter Wolf, as well as roster acts J Rocc, MNDSGN Egyptian Lover, and Jonti.

Sound Select affiliates Young, Gifted & Broke, Madcap, HIT + RUN, and A Label Called Success have also curated a local lineup for the night which includes: Eno X Dirty, HIGH HOOPS, Kakapo, and Villette.

Like all Sound Select shows, this one comes with a minuscule price tag of $3 with RSVP. Entry is on a first in first served basis, so you'll need to arrive early to secure a spot in the mosh pit.
