Brother-sister pop duo Broods were the big winners of this year's NZ Music Awards, securing four golden Tuis for their mantlepiece. The former Breakthrough Artist recipients took out Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Pop Album and Radio Airplay Record Of The Year for their debut album Evergreen.

The awards are an annual celebration of outstanding artistic and technical achievements in the recording field (aka the best in local music). This year's event was the 50th instalment.

Further winners include Lyttelton country songwriter Marlon Williams who took out gongs for Best Male Solo Artist and Breakthrough Artist of the Year; Lorde accepted Single of the Year for 'Yellow Flicker Beat'; popera trio Sol3 Mio claimed Highest Selling Album for their self-titled debut and Savage scooped Highest Selling Single for 'Freaks'.

Iconic New Zealand group The Exponents were recipients of the Legacy Award and an induction into the NZ Hall of Fame. Over their 34-year career the group released nine studio albums and three greatest hits compilations.
