Psychedelic-pop driven by optimistic vibes and a propulsive rhythm section.

As part of an eight-date tour to celebrate the release of their new album, Wellington's The Phoenix Foundation will stop by Auckland's Powerstation for one night only.

Give Up Your Dreams is the first studio offering to be entirely produced by the prog-indie sextet. The group, named after fictional organisation from MacGyver, hunkered down in their studio The Car Club to record the album, the sixth full-length release in their impressive catalogue alongside two movie soundtracks and several EPs. Despite the self-defeating title, Give Up Your Dreams is driven by optimistic vibes and a propulsive rhythm section, and still manages to retain their notorious flair for absurd and psychedelic-pop.

The celebratory tour will be the band's first outing since the release of their Tom's Lunch EP in 2013. Attendees can expect new material as well as some of the old favourites.

We have two double passes to The Phoenix Foundation's Auckland show on Friday, October 2 to give away.

To enter the draw, simply email [email protected] with the subject line: THE PHOENIX FOUNDATION along with your contact details.

T&Cs: Only one entry per person. You must be a Concrete Playground subscriber to win. R18 only. The winner will be chosen at 10:30am on October 1, 2015.
