Overview

Chapel on a Sunday. Everybody must experience this party at least once. If you are feeling a little thirsty but trying to abstain, steer clear of Ponsonby Road. Driving past the small corner Gastro Pub the hive of activity draws you and makes you start salivating for a frosty tube.

Tip your hat at the doorman who is constantly trying to keep the lubricated patrons on the inside of the velvet rope that creeps and bulges towards Anglesea Street. Walk inside and the mix of booze and sweat hits your senses and you know that one beer is not going to quite cut it. A well-known cougar pit, the key to this party is you can't actually move around the bar without engaging with strangers and joining in the fun. Thane Kirby and his 80's drinking soundtrack  "sentimental sound system" do a fantastic job of keeping things ticking over and keeping the fear of Monday morning at bay for a few more hours. Great last chance saloon for the single variety - Grrrrrrr
