We could all learn a thing-thing or two from street fashion master Dan Buckley.

We've had one hell of a time working with Tiger Beer over the past couple of years, sourcing some of the coolest prizes for the Tiger Beer Fortune Avenue community and been involved with some next level parties. We've had the opportunity to work with some of the country's leading brands, events, restaurants and bars in not only getting their word out, but also hooking up Concrete Playground readers and Tiger Beer drinkers with some seriously cool things. Things such as Nick Von K jewellery, tickets to shows such as Flosstradamus, RL Grime, and the G Shock the World party, through to the opportunity to make street art, and even hitting the harbour for a boat cruise with PleasePlease.

And the latest 'thing' to come from the partnership comes from one of New Zealand's leading street fashion labels THING / THING, who have designed a limited edition THING / THING x Tiger Beer beanie for us to give away. We threw a few questions at founder Dan Buckley to find out what's happening in street fashion right now and discuss why this beanie is the best thing in the world right now (apart from his private garden bar).

To go in the draw to win one of ten beanies, and other cool prizes, head to Tiger Beer's Fortune Avenue.

You've been in the game for a bit. What are some tidbits of life inspiration you can pass on to young fashion designers?

Be careful with your finances. Work with people you trust deeply and get educated. And I guess, have a unique proposition.

Talk us through THING / THING?  How did it all come about?

It's a two part mix. It's super simple, thing and then thing. Trying to be a dumb simple brand stamp that is real honest with a touch of funny. The two parts are men's and then women's, but then there's a slightly deeper message around balance and simplicity. Black / white, him / her, me / you. THING / THING.

What is happening in street fashion and what do you think is going to happen?

There is so much great mix going on, so much is acceptable. We get loads of traction, and we really dig on long silhouettes up on top in menswear with long rises (low crotch) in men's pants. Cuffs are so good with mens pants - that's a vibe we play with a lot. Trick, unique cut tees and shirts are where it's at.

With our women's, we vibe on tee-shirt shaped dresses and gathered off the shoulder pieces for this coming spring are really happening for us. Regular silhouettes in women's jeans are working for us right now in mid blue, and anything with a sportswear angle is pumping for THING / THING, i.e this unique set of tights we are continually running that has this rad light neoprene handle.

Talk us through this Tiger beanie. Apart from it being farkin cold, why should people want to get their hands on it/heads into it?

Dude, for the price of a THING / THING beanie you get 2 boxes of beer and a beanie. What more do you need to know?!?!? Ha. Nah, but the hat is a micro stretch rib, it looks really quite small but stretch out really good, fits your head real snug.

Thanks man, and lastly, what are some of your favourite bars or restaurants you find yourself in these days?

I'm married with a kid these days so a family affair in my own private garden bar with a beer in hand is number one for me. But on the odd occasion I'm hitting it - Gypsy Tearoom in West Lynn, or any bar downtown with a water view in summer is the one. Vinnies in Herne Bay is out of hand if you are feeling fancy, or if you are like me and are in love with chicken then Nandos is where it's at, ha.
