Overview

In Amadeus, Peter Shaffer depicts the unfurling hatred between Court Composer Antonio Salieri and new-to-town genius, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Set in Vienna, the story tackles themes of obsession and jealousy, showing the internal and external conflict the characters have with both themselves and each other.

Shaffer has won seven Tony Awards for the production, including the sought-after 'Best Play' and critics have labelled the piece, "One of the most famous and acclaimed pieces of the late twentieth century."

In Auckland Theatre Company's version, the music has been arranged by Oliver Driver and Leon Radojkovic who collectively master the delivery of Mozart's famous works. The stellar cast includes Michael Hurst, Ross McCormack, Morgana O'Reilly, Byron Coll, Laughton Kora and Kura Forrester. The magnificent costumes are even designed by our very own Adrian Hailwood.

This show will be one memorable experience, and the season will only run until May 17.
