Anika Moa

A cosy performance of her new electronic album from the Powerstation's floor.

Overview

Instead of using the stage at Auckland’s Powerstation for her latest gig, Anika Moa and her band will cosy up on the floor with the audience spread around them. The aim is to make the setting as comfortable, intimate and enjoyable as possible; the same probably can't be said for the sound engineers.

The show will also see Anika perform songs from her fifth solo album Queen At The Table. Recorded at Mt Eden’s The Lab studio with respected songwriter Jol Mulholland on production duties, the release saw her cast the acoustic guitar to the side to make electronic music. The result is pitched as a break-up album and comes layered with synths and a heavy does of '90s R&B; all while Anika’s voice soars over the top.

The change of tact came after she wore her heart on her sleeve and released the children’s album Songs For Bubbas, which won a New Zealand Music Award for Best Children's Music Album and Children's Music Song of the Year for 'Colours are Beautiful'.
