Overview

They say that riding is one of the best ways to explore a city, and a leisurely weekend ride around Auckland sounds like a perfect way to enjoy this burst of sunshine we’ve been seeing. It’s also the best way to gallery hop.

Auckland wouldn’t be New Zealand’s biggest city without a strong cycling culture and while we may not be up there with Copenhagen, Amsterdam or even London for that matter, we are definitely heading in the right direction. Europe may be the dream destination for biking but if you think it’s the only place to see great art then think again.

As part of Auckland Artweek, six bicycle tours will explore different neighbourhoods around the city, including Ponsonby and Parnell, Devonport, K'Rd and Newmarket, the CBD and the Waterfront. Each event is free, although booking is essential and spaces are limited to 21 on each tour. There’s nothing stopping you from riding at the back of the pack though so if you miss out on a space just tag along, it’s not the end of the world - although you didn’t hear that from us.

Don’t feel left out if you don't have access to wheels, Auckland Transport has you covered.
