Overview

This Auckland Arts Festival, Basement Theatre presents the multi-sensory installation, Between the Dog and the Wolf.

As dusk falls upon Auckland, a narration of the world today beings. Two young adults shut in the room of a summer house have a conversation that questions the relationship between the way the world is and the way we perceive it. While the actors are not visually present, the audience can hear them speaking and moving among them. This interweaving of visual and aural systems of illusion create a space for each audience member to invest themselves in the performance.

The trick of the performance is that it uses binaural sound recording to create surround sound audio and an illusion that the performers are actually present in the same room. The installation's maximum capacity is five people at a time, with each show 20 minutes long and running every half hour.
