Overview

David Shrigley is one of those artists whose work you look at and think “Ah! Why didn't I think of that?” The answer is, well, because you are not as clever, or funny, or perceptive. And you aren't capable of expressing it in quite the same nonchalant, squiggly, scribbled manner. All you have left to do is face the truth and admire his brilliance. We are very fortunate to have the man himself undertake a five-week residency at Two Rooms gallery this month as part of the Auckland Arts Festival. He will be making and displaying new work during this time, taking a few steps sideways from the line drawings he is famous for and taking a foray into oil painting.

Nobody has quite the same brand of satire as the Turner Prize nominated artist. Or the ability to capture the wisps of the peripheral semi-thoughts that the rest of us let slip by. Don't miss the opportunity to see his work, and maybe meet him, while he is here. His exhibition at Two Rooms will be on from 6 March to 18 April.
