Kyle Hall

Techno purist.

Overview

Since releasing his debut EP at the age of 16, Detroit's Kyle Hall has become one of the most sought after DJs in the underground dance scene. His knack for blending vintage soul and funk with the rough and raw aesthetics of techno has seen him perform at some of the best festivals and clubs across the globe.

His introduction to music came from his family; his mother a singer, his uncle a reputed jazz pianist, and his aunt a world-folk-fusion violinist. The ability to spin came from Raybone Jones, a highly regarded Detroit DJ. Quite the purist, he only uses vinyl in his sets to produce a rich analogue sound.

After the release of his debut on Omar-S' FXHE imprint, he launched his own label Wild Oats at the age of 17, releasing his debut full-length album Boat Party - lauded for tipping its hat to Detroit's godfathers of house music. His second album From Joy came out at the start of this year to much celebration, particularly over the jazz influence on the record.

As part of a tour down under, including Sydney's Vivid LIVE, Kyle Hall will make an appearance at brand new Auckland nightclub Impala.
