Overview

A continuation of the Lonesome Beast exhibition in 2014, 'Lonesome Beast Native presented by Moa Brewing Co.' is a creative collaboration and photographic series between drummer, X Factor judge, all-around good guy and commercial photographer Shelton Woolright and respected tattoo artist Dean Sacred. As well as the new naming-rights-sponsor, this time around a selection of high profile local artists have jumped on board to contribute their artistic prowess for the event, including prolific creatives: Flox, Askew One and Otis Frizzell.

Highlighting the beauty of extinct animals, Woolright was given access to the native taxidermy vaults at the Auckland Museum for the project. On display throughout February in the iconic Old Elephant House at Auckland Zoo, the exhibition will feature 15 prints of Woolright’s photography, each customised with unique layers by one of the partner artists. Each piece is hand numbered, signed and wax stamped on archival paper.

In line with Woolright’s bent for supporting a good cause, ten percent of sales from all prints will go towards The Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund, supporting conservation efforts in the wild throughout New Zealand and overseas. Admission is free upon entry to The Auckland Zoo.
