Overview

Upwards of 100 photographers will showcase their work when the world-renowned event Photo Laundry returns to Auckland this June.

Also known as Sooshka (Russian for ‘to dry something’), the event welcomes photographers of all skill levels to showcase their work on a set of pop-up washing lines. In return for pegging their best landscape, portrait or nude selfie, participants are encouraged to take home another pegged image that takes their fancy.

Since its inception in 2010 in St Petersberg, Russia, more than 90,000 people from 40 cities across 7 countries have participated in the project. Over 1000 people attended the Auckland leg of Photo Laundry in January 2014 at Silo Park.

The second New Zealand event will be held at the The Bridge Gallery Studio from June 13 - 14 as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography. The event will open with a personal exhibition from North Shore photographer Sven Schroeter on June 12.
