Overview

With a career spanning over 20 years, its about time Virginia emcee Pusha T made his New Zealand debut. As the rapper’s second solo album sees the light of day he will perform concert dates in Auckland and Wellington.

Pusha T first came to attention as part of hip hop duo Clipse alongside his brother. Given their style dubbed ‘crack rap’ it was pertinent that the pair would often be hired to perform at drug dealers' birthday parties. It wasn’t until he penned a deal with Kanye West’s GOOD Records imprint that Pusha T started gaining some mainstream traction. His debut solo album My Name Is My Name made way for an enviable list of collaborators, including Kanye, Pharrell Williams, Hudson Mohawke, Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland and Kendrick Lamar, and has been described as a collection of "unforgiving yet beautiful portraits.”

On the release of his anticipated second solo album - rumoured for release late 2015 - he told Billboard “I am feverishly -- I love that word so much these days - I am feverishly trying to finish King Push, and get some music out this month. It's a real easy thing - just a couple different pieces that I feel like need to be in place.”
