Overview

On May 8 there will be plenty to see and plenty to do at the Queens Wharf Block Party which won't leave any room for boredom. With live music, interactive workshops, art installations, food stalls and surprises, there really is something for everyone. Drawing inspiration from community congregations which took place in 1970s New York, the block party hopes to draw an eclectic gathering of minds to indulge in the plethora of art displays, break dancing battles, vintage goods, homemade treasures and delicious food. Live entertainment will be on full blast with soul songstress Bailey Wiley, cosmic-folk three-piece Womb, North Shore rapper Randa, dream-pop act Trip Pony, and up-and-comers Terracotta Cat.

Taking place inside The Cloud on Queens Wharf, the surroundings make for a picturesque location filled with air of sea salt and ocean views with passing boats. From 12pm – 2pm, whether you are a poet or passerby, the CYPHER workshop will take place with Miss bMe & DJ Exile inviting participants to a circle that introduces rhythm, rhymes, freestyle and writing. The circle is great for trying something new, building confidence and gives punters an opportunity to drop those freestyles they have been waiting to. With a drawing club also taking place in the afternoon from 2pm -4pm the unique outdoor setting with life model will be ready to go; just remember to bring your own drawing supplies.

It is going to be a great day, filled with varying activities for both young and old, so whether it's a day out with the family or an activity with friends, be sure to stop in a be captivated by creativity.
