While residing in an East London housing estate, local design pair Adam Crickett and Ryan Kneebone bonded over a mutual love of gourmet burgers. Their passion eventually moved beyond the dinner table and the duo put their own creations to the test by forming the boutique burger company, The Bearded Clam.

Now back in Auckland, the pair regularly showcase a rotating roster of burger specials to the public via pop-up stalls. This year has seen them create everything from breakfast burgers at Good Day cafe in Orakei, Japanese inspired karaage burgers at Atomic and a couple of sexy looking creations for Valentine’s Day festival Flamingo Pier.

The next stop for The Bearded Clam will be Ostro’s City Terrace for one night only on July 11. From 5 - 8pm, the Clam brothers will be on hand with two burgers; their take on a classic cheeseburger, and a new creation called The Mandingo - featuring southern-style crispy fried chicken, American cheese, pickled jalapenos, iceberg lettuce, chipotle sauce and spiced honey mustard, on their signature semi-brioche bun.

While you chomp down on the handmade offerings, music will be provided by Auckland's pre-eminent soul and hip-hop DJ, Manuel Bundy.
