The aroma of meat will paint the clothing of thousands next February as protein jamboree Meatstock jumps the moat for two-days. After making an impressive debut on Valentines Day in Sydney last year, attracting more than 10,000 meatheads, the event has expanded to include two more main centres - Melbourne and Auckland at the ASB Showgrounds.

There's no question it will be the wurst possible day for vegetarians. Part expo, part music festival, the event will feature things like a gladiator-style barbecue cook-off, a show down where talented butchers show off their knifemanship on animal framework, and a cut throat barber competition for some reason. A call has been put out for contestants across all disciplines.

Music is also a key element of the festival and a specially curated stage is expected to showcase the best in blues, country, rock 'n' roll and everything in between. It's yet to be confirmed whether Meatloaf, Meatallica or Limpbrisket will make an appearance.

If Sydney's inaugural offering is anything to go by, Meatstock Auckland will also feature a number of special guest speakers and chefs, a day-long cooking school and catering from a range of carnivorous cooks. Not attending would really be a misteak (sorry).

Meatstock takes place at ASB Showgrounds from February 26 - 27, 2017. For more information visit the Meatstock website.
