1885 has been part of the Britomart Precinct and an even larger part of Auckland's social fabric for five years now. In line with the milestone, the establishment has undergone a swish new refurbishment.

Accomplished in 12-days under the eye of Eliza Liepina, the face-lift was undertaken to create three completely different spaces for guests. As well as the enhancement of natural light in the Main Room, new booth seating and a revived members club in the Basement with a personal driver service, the site now boasts the addition of the G.H Mumm Champagne Room.

Inspired by "the 1930s decade of liquor consumption," the space features champagne riddling racks, private leather booths, custom-made lamps and a glass structure separating the space from the frenzy of the Main Room. Undeniably, the coolest part of the transformation is the addition of a "Press for Champagne" table service in the booths, saving a pilgrimage to the bar and making you feel like the big man on campus.

Project Manager Eliza Liepina says the idea behind the space was "to create a bar with its own identity that referenced through its aesthetic elements Champagne and the long history and culture of it."

To mark the completion of 1885's refurbishment we have a Champagne Room package to give away. The prize includes a pick up in the 1885 Basement Cadillac, a booking in a Champagne Room booth, and a complimentary bottle of champagne on arrival.
