Having already spent a decent chuck of her fashion career stateside - namely the Big Apple - NZ couture and wedding dress designer Trish Peng has now set her sights firmly on the unpredictable market of Los Angeles. Alongside her partner Seadon of New Zealand streetwear brand ilabb, Trish is hardboiled on giving the home of glitz, glamour and red carpets a fair whack. In between finishing off her latest collection she found time to give us insight into some local shopping hotspots. This is Trish Peng's guide to shopping in Los Angeles.

THE ROW

The Row is Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen's brand. Their store is located in the beautiful home right on Melrose. Pretty discreet, almost suburban until you enter the place and it has beautiful glass windows overlooking a courtyard pool. It looks like a strange homely set up but then you realise everything is for sale like the furniture and rugs.

THE GROVE

I love the Grove. It's a gorgeous outdoor shopping complex with all the big commercial brands like Zara, H&M, Apple, Sephora. Has a tram that can take you from one end to the other. This place also has great restaurants, cafes and cinemas. Rachel Zoe the stylist also has a pop-up there right now for her new collection.

DECADES

Decades is hands down the best vintage store and one of the most famous in the world. They have the best designer pieces from Chanel, Dior, pre-2000 pieces from Gucci, Valentino or Versace. They say they are always being replenished by celebrity closets. L.A. stylists always source from there to.

BARNEY'S

Barney's is one of my favourite department stores as it has the best round up of designers all in that one place. It also has the cutest restaurant on the rooftop where you can go relax after a hard day of shopping.

SEPHORA

Oh my gosh, this is Sephora's first standalone store that opened in Beverly Hills last year. It is HUGE, you'll find everything you need for your beauty routine there. It even has a full beauty studio and a Pantone Colour IQ foundation matching gadget that matches your skintone perfectly to your foundation colour.

CELINE

I've always loved the simplistic branding of Céline – their sunglasses are the best! Every girl needs a pair of those. They opened not long ago on Rodeo Drive so it's constantly packed with celebs if you are in the mood to stalk some familiar faces.

MOOD FABRICS

Mood Fabrics – as seen on Project Runway in New York but they have one in L.A. too. It literally has every type of fabric, bead, trim…I am like a kid in a candy store when I go there!

RODEO DRIVE

Rodeo Drive is a must to walk/drive past! It is the epicentre for all things luxury. All the top brands have a store on the strip. It can be daunting walking into each store but so inspiring. Oh and again – so many celebrity sightings. It's the place to flaunt what you have – the store 'House of Bijan' has reserved a spot in the front of their store to park their yellow Bugatti as part of a museum display for people to take photos with.
