Overview

When a bar and bistro calls itself The Riff, it's safe to expect more than a few music-themed items to grace their lineup. In the case of the latest addition to the Emporium complex, you'll actually find a signature cocktail list full of them. Who doesn't want to knock back a Rum-DMC (gin, aperol, ginger, bitters) or a Sgt Bombay's Lonely Hearts (Bombay sapphire gin, green tea, basil, lemon)? Or sip on our pick, which is sure to inspire a few tears: the Chambord, berry and rose mix that is The Prince.

Yep, it's a drinks selection that'll make you say "let's go crazy"; however there's more to this new Fortitude Valley hangout. Sitting down for a meal means deciding between two choices. You can peruse the menu, find the dish that satisfies whatever food cravings you're having at that particular time, order and eat away — or, you can conjure up something different.

If one of the existing brekkies of buttermilk pancakes, bruschetta or eggs bennie on sourdough don't take your fancy, then pick and choose your own combo of ingredients. And if you're not in the mood for a pork steak, rib fillet or lamb shoulder, select your preferred meats and sides to be served up on a sharing board. With desserts such as tonka bean pot de crème (aka bitter chocolate, strawberry compote and mint) and fig and sticky date pudding with Sailor Jerry's caramel sauce also on offer, there are plenty of reasons to check out creative new eatery. Come for the rock-focused beverages; stay for whatever food you feel like.
