Overview

It's not often Brisbane can boast about the cold. Our beautiful tropical climate prevents us from receiving the chilly temperatures we need to really enjoy winter and its truest icy traditions. But hey, it's the 21st century.  We defy every other restriction that's thrown at us, so it's only fair to defy the climate too. In the fashion of everything frosty, Brisbane bring us The Winter Festival.

The annual celebration is hosted in admiration of all things winter. Centred around the largest outdoor ice rink in the Southern Hemisphere, last year's Winter Festival attracted around 30,000 visitors to Brisbane's King George Square.

The festival is really a sight to be seen. Beyond the huge ice rink you will find many other highlights including an array of food stalls (hello German Sausage Hut), music, live entertainment and a licenced bar.

Be warned - Though you may feel invincible gliding across the ice rink, that's only the alcohol trying to confuse you. Don't get caught in the heat of the moment, or lack there of. Drink and skate responsibly.

Enjoy our artificial winter pleasures safely at Brisbane Winter Festival and let the our local icy tundra make you move like an arctic lizard.
