Kick back with Friday arvo tunes and food.
When the clock strikes 5pm every Friday, what's on your mind? For most of us, it's unwinding after a week of work. Tunes, food and kicking back in a grassy spot a stone's throw from the inner-city — that'll do the job nicely.
That's what QPAC's Green Jam Sessions offers each week, and much to the delight of those looking to relax to some great sounds, the program is back for 2017. Between 5.30pm and 7.30pm, the outdoor songfest will take over the Melbourne Street Green (aka that vibrant patch of turf just past the Cultural Centre walkway) for more free live music fun.
So, who's on the bill? Amongst a lineup that champions local talent — featuring nine acts from the Queensland Conservatorium and four Indigenous artists — you'll also find a Brissie mashup made up of members of Astro Travellers and Big Dead, plus roots from Yeshe. And as for your stomach, it can feast on a new Mexican street food menu that includes crumbed whiting tacos and chipotle pulled pork nachos. You'll have to pay for the eating part of the evening (and any bevs you place in your hand), but it'll be worth it.
