Celebrated in Mexico and the USA, Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that fits in seamlessly with our ongoing obsession with everything Mexican. Commemorating Mexico’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, it's been adopted worldwide as a celebration of Mexican heritage and culture. And perhaps more than anyone else, Sydneysiders, Melburnians and Brisbanites will embrace anything if it means we get to drink beer with a wedge of lime in it, eat more guacamole than is sensible and hit a papier mache animal with a stick while shouting ‘¡Ole!’
