Like its South Bank sister, the Jetty Oxford has a prime riverfront location, sitting right next to the Bulimba ferry terminal. The open plan layout is relaxed and makes good use of the surrounds, so if the weather is fine a cool breeze will make its way through the restaurant. Open for three meals a day most days of the week, weekend breakfast is a particularly enjoyable time to go (although it is recommended that you book ahead). The cheesy quesadilla with savoury mince, avocado salsa and sour cream makes a good start to the day, as does the ‘Big Jetty’ breakfast, and there are plenty of other lighter and/or sweeter options on hand too.

Lunch and dinner meals range from very light (salt and pepper squid with sticky soy and coriander) to more substantial dishes (potato and ricotta gnocchi with basil and cashew pesto, heirloom tomatoes and bocconcini), and the wine list is extensive. Truth be told however, the banana, honey and peanut smoothie is probably the best drink on the menu.

If you’re in the mood, you can order a takeaway coffee and take a stroll along the riverbank.
