Despite expanding across the bridge and into the mobile food biz, Bird On A Wire's flagship Ponsonby location has remained a cooped-up roost. So it comes as pleasant news that the free-range rotisserie has spread its wings to a sizeable location down the road.

Taking over Toru cafe in Ponsonby Central, Bird On A Wire's new digs boasts seating for 75 in an expansive dining room, a takeaway counter, and a front cafe that mutates into a bar come nightfall. The relocation also welcomes extended hours from 7am until late, 7 days a week, and an all-day menu. The new spread features new items like the Breakfast Board, eggs any style, smoked salmon or bacon, tomato and feta salad, avocado and toast; an omelette with leek, caramelised onion and ricotta; and smoked salmon with caper mayo, watercress, avocado and sourdough.

Throughout the rest of the day, the adored Bird On A Wire menu comprising seasonal salads and free-range rotisserie chicken will be available. The neighbourhood chicken shop has also partnered with on demand delivery service Urban Sherpa, offering delivery for the first time. Eggcellent.
