Overview

An exciting new program is about to kick off at PACT. On the second Saturday of every month from March to November, eight emerging artists will experiment with fast and furious ways of communicating the news. Rapid Response Team will respond to a bulletin and be given two days to devise a performance.

This urgent form of art-making will be based around burning global issues. Although the program will be launched from PACT’s Erko warehouse venue, performances may take place on the streets of Sydney and online. The participants include Aslam Abdus-samad, Nick Atkins, DA Carter, Marie Chanel, Stephanie King, Ryan McGoldrick, Kevin Ng and Claudia Osborne. This cohort comprises a range of art backgrounds, from writers and poets through to media artists and production technicians.

Cutting out the lengthy production period — where topical issues tend to lose their relevance — Rapid Response Team is all about immediate theatre-making with a social conscience.
