Overview

Hamish McKeich will conduct the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in a late night screening of Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece with live soundtrack.

Hitchcock was the Master of Suspense, but Psycho just isn't Psycho without Hermann's iconic score. His scary strings have influenced numerous composers and become synonymous with the horror genre. Feel your heart pound in time with staccato strings at this late night screening and live soundtrack.

The shower scene from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho is one of the most famous moments in film history. Intended to run without any music at all, the film's composer Bernard Herrmann insisted on adding his iconic stabbing chords. The jolting, vicious chords of Psycho are contrasted against searching, driving phrases that unnerve the staunchest listener.

Come and witness this iconic convergence of sound and screen.
