Heroes' Square
The largest and most symbolic square in the Hungarian capital and home to the Millennium Monument.
Overview
As you approach City Park (Városliget), you'll first notice the 40-metre-high column with a statue at the centre of Heroes' Square (Hősök tere), Hungary's most iconic and photographed spot.
The Millennium Monument, built for the 1896 Millennium celebrations, symbolises a significant event in Hungary's history. As you stroll around, admire the intricate statues, including King St. Stephen, Hungary's first king, among other historical figures.
Additionally, enjoy the mediaeval architecture of Vajdahunyad Castle, which combines Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Romanesque elements, showcasing a unique testament to architectural evolution.
