Armenian Artist Gets Screwed
Saimir Strati creates the world's largest screw mosaic.
Artists get screwed all the time, but Saimir Strati has turned the tables, completing the world's largest screw mosaic.
Using 300,000 screws, the artwork, titled Currency of the Soul, depicts the Ancient Greek epic poet, author of the Illiad and the Odyssey (aka two of the most awesome tales ever to be passed down over an estimated 30 centuries) in the place of President George Washington on the one dollar - here, 'One Homer' - bill. A medium of exchange in the 'United States of Artists', the piece may not be entirely subtle, but it is so visually striking that it can be forgiven.
It would also, presumably, take a very long time to remove - right, street artists? Go forth and screw.
