It's shaping up to be one helluva summer at Smales Farm. The North Shore community space, which can be found five minutes from Takapuna Beach, has announced its summer entertainment series, including a rotating collective of food trucks, a New Year's Day blowout, an outdoor movie season, a brand new food, wine and music festival and a massive cycle gathering.

The Highlife New Year's Day Party will an opportune time to dust yourself off from the night before. From midday the festival will celebrate the first day of 2018 with live performances from the likes of American DJ Ron Carroll and German hip hop producer TAI. There will also be an abundance of food, performers, private party suites and festival activities to get involved in.

For three weekends across February and March, the Smales Farm Outdoor Movie Season will see newly released films projected on a giant openair screen. Food vendor collective Food Space will be onsite from 3pm before family-friendly films Moana (Saturday 3 March), The Jungle Book (Saturday 10 March) and Thor: Ragnarok (Saturday 17 March) hit the big screen.

The debut outing of the Takapuna Food, Wine and Music Festival will take place on February 10. The one-day festival will combine the best aspects of traditional food and wine festivals and music events to produce an entirely new experience. Those who meet the R20 restriction can expect a curated lineup of boutique wineries and craft breweries and a selection of local food vendors. Flying in to headline the mainstage will be Sydney dance group Sneaky Sound System. Joining them will be Sola Rosa, Nathan Haines, Jordan Luck Band, Hipstamatics and Latin Aotearoa.

Bike the Bridge will help festival-goers burn off all those empty calories the week following. 4000 cyclists are expected for the event on Sunday 10 February which makes its from Smales Farm and across the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
