ASC is Parnell's New Hair Salon-Cafe Hybrid

A new hair salon-café hybrid joins the Parnell area. As soon as you enter the doors of ASC you are welcomed by a friendly, soon-to-be familiar smile. It's the smile of co-owner Andrea, one half of the Cockle dream team alongside husband Stephen. Both are hairstyling veterans of the industry with over 40 years experience in New Zealand and abroad.

The couple wanted to create a warm and inviting space where clients are encouraged to hang out, catch up over a boutique tea or a New Zealand crafted wine and relax on the luxurious sofa. And they have done just that.

ASC resides in a heritage building, with parts of the original building remaining, including an old fireplace in its far corner. Industrial elements including steel and polished concrete have been used in the refurbishment, aligning with the owners focus on sustainability.

Stephen and Andrea's sustainability ethos expands further, from the fit out through to the products they use and drinks they serve. The wine and beer has been carefully selected, serving locally sourced beverages only, including Invivo wines, craft beer from Brothers Brewery and coffee from neighbourhood favourite Espresso Workshop.

Eco-friendly products include Italian brand Davines, renowned for its commitment to sustainability and natural ingredients. For styling products, the owners have chosen to use R+Co, with all products in the range free from parabens, sulfates, mineral oil and petroleum.

ASC is located at 209 Parnell Road. The salon will be open from Tuesday – Saturday, with late nights on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
