Overview

With a genre like ‘real estate thriller’ you’d be forgiven thinking that the film 99 Homes is based around the current state of Auckland's housing market.

99 Homes follows unemployed single father Dennis Nash (Andrew Garfield) and his mother (Laura Dern) as they’re cruelly evicted from their home. Desperate to get back his humble abode, Nash abides by the all time classic saying “if you can’t beat them, join them,” selling his soul to ruthless businessman and gun-toting real estate agent Rick Carver (Michael Shannon), the man who repossessed his home in the first place.

In exchange for a lifestyle of wealth and glamour, Nash finds himself on the other side of the doorbell, evicting other families from their homes - the situation ultimately growing more brutal and dangerous than he initially expected.

Having already being given a run during the NZ International Film Festival, the film will return for a proper outing in NZ cinemas from October 29.
