A Morning with the Royal New Zealand Ballet

Deconstructed ballet on steroids.

Overview

The Royal New Zealand Ballet company is coming to Auckland for a weekend of deconstructed ballet which will cover the ground of 150 years of ballet (from classical to contemporary) within 45 minutes. So buckle up.

And then, after their torrential display of prowess, the company will retire and the RNZB Dance Educator Pagan Dorgan will take the stage and teach some ballet essentials to the probably way less coordinated and/or graceful audience - we're guessing with the aim to show how damn hard and painful dancing on pointe really is. But it'll be fun, I promise.

Entry is free, so we recommend maybe turning up about half an hour early to make sure you get a spot in the audience.

Note: The RNZB will be performing in two separate venues:
On Saturday 11 July, the 10.30am performance will be in the Great Hall of the Auckland Town Hall. On Sunday 12 July, the 10.30am performance will be at the Bruce Mason Centre.
