Overview

Way back in 2011 a couple of ale loving Aussies dreamed up the Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS), a massive festival celebrating good food and great beer. It was an instant success, thanks in part to the fact that dozens of breweries concoct new beers especially for the festival — from peanut brittle ales to passionfruit sours.

GABS' first appearance in Auckland last year was an epic night of beer appreciation, and its second showing this June is set to be even better. Local legends 8 Wired, Funk Estate and Outlier Cartel and countless other breweries are all whipping up new beers especially for the event, and over 300 beers will be pouring on the night.

The usual entertainment is in place, from the Liquorland Marketplace where you'll find beer games and free tastings to Craft College where you can learn about the art of brewing. There will even be giant jenga, lawn bowls and a rather luxurious sounding artisan food and drink matching experience. The sessions run 16-17 June, so get tickets soon and experience one of the best beer events in New Zealand.
