The team behind Parnell's Simon and Lee and Newmarket's The Candy Shop opened Gochu in June 2020, spotlighting natural wine, twisted classic cocktails and modern Korean food. This April, the bar and restaurant is firing up its kitchen for a weekly experimental dining series.

If Auckland's Alert Level 3 lockdown has been lifted, Gochu's test kitchen will kick off on Tuesday, 6 April. Thereafter it will run on the first Tuesday of every month. Co-owner and executive chef Jason Kim will be playing around with fun and exciting dishes that will most likely only be served on the night.

The menu won't be released until the day and you can expect to see some exciting Korean dishes you won't eat anywhere between here and the back streets of Seoul. The test kitchen service will set you back $45 a head.
