Overview

Writer, curator and qualified arts manager, Ema Tavola brings you the third exhibition in the PIMPI Winter Series, honouring radical, transformative self-love — perfect for winter.

Featuring work from Melissa Cole, Julia Mage'au Gray, Pati Solomona Tyrell, Serene Timeteo, Jacinda Pini, the artists "explore, reclaim and unpack the politics of the gaze, unapologetically centralising the brown body, in the frame, in the centre; creating visibility where it didn't exist".

The exhibition includes workshops and a discussion on channelling self-love, plus a pop-up shop of local plus-size designs.

In case you're wondering what PIMPI is, the anagram stands for Pacific Island Management, Production + Ideas and advocates for the art and artists of the Pacific, South Auckland and Oceania. It opens on July 29.
