Overview

Armed with a voice that's soulful, sadness and serenity all at once, homegrown talent Maala will grace the stage at Studio this weekend in honour of his latest release 'Crazy'.

With seasoned music veterans already calling the tune an 'undeniable chart hit', it's a superb supplement to the ongoing success of this unassuming Kiwi — who took out the New Zealand Music Award for Best Male Solo Artist at last year's ceremony.

Offering a hypnotic blend of morning bedroom beats, more substantial Saturday night tunes and moody Monday blues, Maala's music will take you on a journey — and it's virtually impossible not to find his performance endearing.

Humble as he takes the stage but quietly confident once the show begins, he's a metaphor for Kiwi success and we love watching him shine.

Supported by emerging hip-hopper Abdul Kay (hand-picked by David Dallas as one to watch), alternative indie kids Openside and the dance stylings of Jon Lemmon, grab someone who makes you tingly and drift away with this dreamy medley of local genius.
