Overview

NGARO explores the hidden and faceless journey of mental illness. Maori dance practitioner Louise Potiki Bryant has created a new multi-media work that integrates a powerful solo performance and a dynamic video installation with music by Paddy Free (Pitch Black) and design by Rona Ngahuia Osborne.

She was awarded the prestigious Harriet Friedlander New York Residency in 2014 by the Arts Foundation of New Zealand, and NGARO grew out of her experience there.

Reflecting upon our wellbeing, NGARO explores Hinengaro, the hidden feminine and atua of the mind, consciousness and awareness. The influential installation re-affirms a connection with sensual pathways and a reawakening to consciousness as it explores a world overtaken by multiple egos.

The captivating piece demonstrates how easy it is to lose yourself in an isolating mental illness and looks at how we dull our senses to cope with this stimulation overload. Performing for one night only, you don't want to miss this stunning piece so get your tickets quickly.
