Overview

Live Cinema returns to the mighty Civic Theatre next month as part of the New Zealand International Film Festival, which kicks off on July 14.

Celebrating its 49th year in Auckland, NZIFF joins forces once again with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra to bring you a unique cinematic experience. This year the 1927 classic It will take to the screen. Not to be confused for the creepy clown movie, but the jazz rom-com starring screen legend Clara Bow.

The silent romantic comedy tells the story of a shop girl who sets her sights on her handsome and wealthy boss. The 1927 flick saw Bow rise to fame, labelling her the original 'It Girl'.

Carl Davis' score is brought to life by American conductor Marc Taddei, who has previously worked on former NZIFF Live Cinema events such as The Wind in 2006, Nosferatu in 2011, and Safety Last in 2016.

Buy your tickets now and be transported back to the 1920s. It's an experience not to be missed.
