Tempo Dance Festival

Overview

Tempo Dance Festival describes itself as the only pan-genre professional dance festival in the country. Dozens of different types of dance combine to create one impressive celebration of movement across Auckland — including over 40 events, ticketed shows, community events, free public performances, artist talks, demonstrations and much more. Its ultimate aim is to bring dance in all its forms to Auckland and promote the talents of up and coming artists.

Backed by the New Zealand Dance Festival Trust, Tempo has given aspiring dancers a leg up to display their talents for years. This year's festival will feature over 700 dancers from a wide variety of backgrounds, showcasing the incredible diversity of dance and giving the public a show like they've never seen before. Tempo's audience has more than tripled since 2011 and this year is expected to be another leap forward for this exciting and innovative festival.
