Overview

Secret watering holes are becoming all the rage in Auckland. In the past few months we've witnessed a password-only piano bar pop-up on Queen Street and an exclusive tequila experience open its doors to just 30 people.

Now, a "modern speakeasy" is opening its nondescript doors for three nights only in downtown Auckland, as a place for those in-the-know to "drink world class whisky and discover new experiences."

The Chivas Club will be a pop-up hangout hidden behind a heavy roller door in a motorcycle workshop in downtown Auckland. The location will only be revealed to ticket holders via a cryptic text message on the day of the event.

Upon arrival, guests will be met by a Chivas host who will escort them down a dark passage towards a shadowy staircase. Through one final door, the speakeasy will come to life with contemporary mid-century furniture, a bar offering the complete range of Chivas whiskies, whisky cocktails, live music, food and traditional club activities. Chivas Regal ambassador David Wallace will lead whisky tastings, while mixologist Logan Demmy will whip up classics cocktails including old fashioneds and whisky sours.

The Chivas Club will take place on November 8, 15 and 22. The $30 ticket price includes two Chivas cocktails, unlimited food and entertainment.
