Overview

The Watercooler is a monthly gathering of fiction and non-fiction storytellers based around an assortment of broad themes such as revenge, love, home, change etc. The event format is taken from well-known podcasts such as The Moth and This American Life, but with a New Zealand set of storytellers.

Hosted by comedian and actress Donna Brookbanks (Funny Girls, Jono and Ben) Issue #47 of The Watercooler, Under The Same Moon, sees storytellers delving into the idea of cultural diversity here in New Zealand amongst those who call it home.

Issue #47 features actress Alyssa Medel, theatre producer Natasha Lay and paleoclimotologist Carlos Carvajal Garcia, who will explore the cultural shocks and identity crises that immigrants go through while trying to make the land of the long white cloud their new forever home; as well as telling stories from those who never really managed to properly settle in.
