Overview

Smack bang in the middle of Kingsland, Grill & Shakes at first seems like quite a random mix of sweet and savoury - with shakes, cookies, and organic fountain sodas sharing the same menu as chargrilled chicken and mediterranean flat bread pizzas. Downstairs appears to look like an ice cream parlour, while upstairs is a homely mix of rooms that clearly used to be a loft apartment. Have a seat on some 1980s school class furniture that has been in given a new lease of life, and make an attempt at choosing from 1 of the 69 delicous milkshake options.

With flavours ranging from Ferrero Rocher, to Spiced Apple and Jelly Bean, you may want to take your time choosing. At $7.90 these shakes don’t come cheap but they do claim to be the best in Auckland, and after having tried a couple of them that is a statement I would jump on board with.

If its lunch you’re seeking, the organic flatbread sandwiches ($12) are a mouthwatering prospect. The mix of flavours in The Lamb Beeter (lamb, feta, spinach, beetroot, garlic) will have you wanting to order another one. There’s also topped flatbreads (pizzas), flame grilled skewers, chargrilled chicken marinated in a blend of spices ($12 half, $20.90 whole chicken), available after 5pm.

It's a peculiar combination of sweets and meat but both seem to be made with a love of flavour and the intention of perfection in mind. Definitely worth struggling to find a park on New North Road for.
