Overview

Ah steak – it's a magical thing. Truly the food of the gods, and you will find none better (or at least I haven't) than at the Jervois Road Steak House.  A former fire station, this nirvana offers at least ten different varieties of beef—from Wagyu to Rib Eye to Eye Fillet and everything in between.  Operated by the infamous Simon Gault (of Euro and Masterchef fame),  it offers great service, exceptional food and an excellent selection of wine at a not very affordable, but totally worth it, price.

While  the steak is of course their signature dish, if it's not your thing, fear not.  The JSH has an impressive range of alternatives including some exceptional seafood, most notably the Alaskan King Crab.  The 'Main Event' is a highly recommended experience,  which calls for in depth planning and strategising to choose a selection of sauces, cut of meat and additional extras (you need the onion rings, trust me). It's also advisable to follow suggestions on matching wines with your meal – but check the prices before purchasing.

The sauce selection is second to none and really adds a new dimension to the food — a personal favourite to accompany the Eye Fillet is the brandy & green peppercorn cream sauce.  Exceptional.

All in all the JSH is everything you would expect – the best steak in town at a price. It is worth it though — even the Wagyu.
