Overview

There are very few things in this world that can beat the pure gratification and class of sipping a delicious rosé while savouring fresh oysters. Based in Auckland's ferry building, The Shucker Brothers offers an elegant new establishment to drink and eat while you wait for your commute.

It's owned by Geoff Tippett and Ana Schwarz, who started Island Gelato Company on Waiheke Island before deciding to expand to the mainland. Having seen similar oyster bars in San Francisco, the pair jumped at the opportunity to open up The Shucker Brothers in the sophisticated and stylish ferry building. With views of the sea, a sun-catching location and seconds from the Waiheke ferry it is the perfect place to savour soaking up some time.

Those who aren't oyster fans should clam it and give these exquisitely juicy molluscs a try. The taste is so fresh they could have been pulled straight off the rocks at Waiheke's Te Matuku, where they are sourced, before being placed on your plate.

If you're still not sold on oysters, The Shucker Brothers offers a variety of options including crab doughnuts, salt cod croquettes and immense prawns. For those that want to keep away from kai moana, the chef does have a sumptuous wagyu beef and rice risotto, not to mention a crowd-pleasing beetroot hummus served with flatbreads.

Make sure you check out The Shucker Brothers when you want a taste of class at prices that won't blow the budget. It's shucking amazing and you'd be shellfish not to go.
