The latest addition to the Barracks has opened its doors and promises breakfast, lunch and dinner with Italian flair. Owned by entrepreneur TJ Peabody (formerly of Indooroopilly's now-cloesd Nantucket Kitchen and Bar), this new dining spot will likely become favourite for pre- and post-movie drinks, dinners and discussions.
Breakfast is a pleasant romp through all of the best things about Italy, foremost among them: burrata. This creamy ball of spectacular cheese can be found simply by ordering the pomodori gratinati, while the Nativo Breakfast Board is resplendent with parma ham, dried tomatoes, basil pesto, avocado, sourdough and eggplant.
Lunch and dinner has all the delightful things you can expect from a good Italian joint, with osso bucco, gnocchi with gorgonzola, tuna carpaccio and aglio e olio all making a welcome appearance. Pastas are available as entree or mains.
They've got a cracker of a wine list with (unsurprisingly) a great deal of the vino originating from Italy. As you do. So go on, catch a film at the Palace, and then mosey down to Nativo for a Negroni and a bite to eat afterwards.
