If you're a fan of films both new and old, then you've probably experienced an increasingly common problem: scrolling through your streaming platform of choice and being underwhelmed by its rather small retro selection. Or, maybe you've just worn out your Back to the Future or Ferris Bueller's Day Off DVDs. Or perhaps you've always wanted to see The Princess Bride or Pretty in Pink, but have been waiting until you could catch them in a cinema.
Whichever category you fall into, Dendy Coorparoo's new Cult Classics programs is here to help every Monday, with the season running from June 4 to August 27. Each week, the eastside cinema will serve up a new blast from the past — at 10.30am, in case you have the day off, and at 6.30pm too, for those who've been working.
Tickets cost $8 for members and $10 for everyone else, and the lineup is stacked full of old faves. Gremlins and The NeverEnding Story are on the bill for a dose of childhood nostalgia, while Full Metal Jacket and Platoon will take you into the depths of war. And, you won't just get the chance to revisit Marty McFly's first time-travelling escapades, but the whole trilogy.
