After launching in June with an eastside screening of Grey Gardens, Brisbane's new pop-up cinema is back — and it's going back to the 70s. You'd best bring some platform shoes and a pair of roller skates to Filmhouse's next session, and be ready to dance to disco as well. Big, bright, shining stars are all welcome.
On Saturday, August 11, Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights will hit the big screen at West End's Rumpus Room, so naturally the Filmhouse crew are turning the occasion into a party. Think bell bottoms, rollergirls, ridiculous moustaches and the appropriate soundtrack, as well as the ace 1997 flick starring Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, Heather Graham, Burt Reynolds and the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The session is expected to sell out, so nabbing tickets sooner rather than later is recommended. And if you'd like some extra refreshments, it's a BYO screening — but bottles and cans of wine and beer mustn't be opened before you enter the venue. The Rumpus Room bar will also be operating, too.
