We can't all always hop on a plane, but we can send our tastebuds to another place. Thanks to Dinder Delights, add Sudan to the list. Setting up shop in West End's Vulture Street, the eatery aims to bring the best of the country's cuisine to Australia.
That means authentic African food brimming with flavour, and all for an affordable price. Start with the vegetable biryani, but don't expect you culinary end there, whether you're on meat-heavy or veggie options. In the former camp, you'll find sambal tilapia (which is fish, in case the term isn't familiar), braised balti chicken and plenty of lamb — in a rezala stew, as cutlets with mint and chilli sauce, as a soup, in chop form on a sizzling plate, and in fried pieces called shayyeh. As for the latter, there's only one main choice, but it's a big one: lentil and kale stew.
As well as cooking up a storm for patrons eating in, Dinder also offers takeaway and catering service. And, if you're in need of supplies for later, a butcher and small range of groceries can also be found on the premises.
